$275M Sports Performance Hub Breaks Ground in Homestead

Driving the news: A $275 million sports complex is officially underway in Homestead, with city leaders breaking ground this week on the Sports Performance Hub, a large development designed to serve both professional athletes and local youth.

The project is backed by a group of former professional athletes, including four-time NBA champion Manu Ginobili.

Details: The development will combine professional sports facilities with community resources. Plans include:

  • A 10,000-seat stadium that will host Miami FC home games

  • A professional training academy

  • A youth boarding school focused on sports development

  • Public recreation facilities

  • A sports-themed hotel

  • A sports medicine and surgery center offering rehabilitation and physical therapy

The stadium will also host the Homestead rodeo. Existing playing fields at the park will be upgraded, with additional fields built as part of the expansion.

Why it matters: The project is expected to bring new jobs, youth programs, and tourism to the area. City leaders say the complex will create opportunities for local athletes while drawing regional events and visitors that support Homestead’s economy.

Between the lines: The involvement of former professional athletes adds credibility to the project and could attract national events, training camps, and partnerships with sports organizations.

What’s next: Construction is expected to move quickly, with the Sports Performance Hub projected to open within about 18 months.
