✈ Every Terminal at Miami International Airport Will Either be Expanded or Rebuilt Within 6 years
Driving the news: Miami International Airport (MIA) is undergoing a massive transformation that will reshape the travel experience for millions. As part of a multi-year modernization plan, MIA is preparing for a complete overhaul of its terminals, parking structures, and on-site accommodations—positioning itself for the next era of travel. According to Miami-Dade Aviation Director Ralph Cutié, every terminal will be expanded or rebuilt by 2031, with significant improvements already underway.
Details: By 2031, MIA’s passengers will experience entirely revamped terminals. Key highlights of the upgrade include:
Terminal Expansions and Rebuilds: All terminals, including the nearly 80-year-old Central Terminal, will undergo complete redesigns to enhance flow and modernize the experience.
Expanded Connectivity: Post-security areas will be fully connected across terminals, eliminating the need for passengers to re-clear security between gates. This is expected to drastically improve the convenience and speed of air travel.
New Hotel: A new Westin Hotel with 500 rooms will be added by 2027, providing convenient, on-site lodging for travelers and airport staff.
Parking Overhaul: MIA’s parking garages will be expanded and given a modern aesthetic, featuring stainless steel artwork to enhance the airport's exterior.
